Back to reality

Hi readers and followers, I have emerged unscathed from bar exam studies and looking forward to the new adventures that are on offer.

Reality. Let us indulge in some materiality.

Peace

Marching.

Hi Guys and Dolls, hope you are all faring well. Well, I have survived. The New York Bar examination is now behind me, and life lies ahead of me, or something to that extent. It is all kind of illusory at the moment. But you all know what I mean, and if you don’t, then you don’t.

February was intense.  It was almost non-existent as I pored over countless pages of Law. I revised concepts of Law and the fertile octogenarian and its relation to the rule of perpetuities. Then there was the long-arm jurisdiction doctrine and to top it off there was the rule of ademption. I believe we are now close to redemption. It was voluminous, heavy going, tedious. But such is the law. It has been written and some lucky New York Board of examiners will grade the thousands Bar exams, that were written.

The exam took place at The Jacob Javits convention centre on 11th avenue at 35th street, on the shores of the Hudson River. The blazing blue sky could be seen through the large glass roof of the structure, while many perused effortlessly over notes, as they dreadfully waited for the 9 AM start of the exam. The exam runs two days, the first consisting of 6 essays and 50 multiple-choice questions. Day two was 200 multiple-choice questions, one more ambiguous than the next. Instructions were given out in English, although it was quite evident that many of those taking the exam were speaking Spanish, French and other weird alien- type languages.

It was akin to a formula one race, the proctor announced time, and we were on our way. It was a sight for sore eyes, or maybe not, but there were thousands of people going through the same or similar type questions of law, some irrational, illogical and just plain mesmerising. After 12 hours of writing, the final whistle was blown. Pens were placed on tables, whilst almost instantaneously pints of beer were drunk. We triumphantly made our way from the city to hipster Williamsburg and we drank spirits with friends and our many accomplices.

Enough said.

So here we are, I now am officially on the lookout for work. Yes, it is a dispiriting type of word, then again so is employment. So I prefer to label it ‘activity’. In any case, I am on the search for my next activity, and am quite open to new and exciting opportunity. So whilst keeping my ‘activity’ options open, I hope to find something challenging, yet fun. I have heard that is in fact quite feasible. So watch this space for further developments.

It would be amiss of me, if I did not mention that it was lovely to see my sister Fraidy again, she dropped by New York and we wined and dined. Shopping was achieved as well.

So we March on, excuse the pun. Purim is around the corner, so I would like to take this chance to wish one and all a joyous merry time and may this festival of salvation bring peace and enjoyment in all that you do.

Let me hear from you too.

Peace out.
